Simplicity
Here’s a collection of monographs I collected over the last 3 years. My favorites are Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Albert Watson and Martin Parr. The photo was taken in my bathroom. Believe it or not, the toilet roll coincidentally ran out of paper after doing my business 1/2 hour ago :p
I’ve always wanted to take a photo of my toilet bowl, and since the usual tabletop couldn’t take the weight of these books, so a little experiment was done in the bathroom. Squeezing a strobe with a stand in the tiny bathroom would be too cumbersome. A speedlite was mounted on my 5D and bounced it off instead. Setting was at ISO 800, shutter 1/80 sec, f-stop 2.8.
Simplicity can be beautiful. Sadly, simplicity didn’t fascinate me in the past. Anyone can take a simple photograph. I’ve always been intrigued by the complex lighting techniques, adoring the work of Patrick Hoelck and Gregory Heisler.
Learning to be complicated and simple at the same time is what I ought to do now.
